It is a dark time in the surf community, traitorous wretches linger upon each and every corner. It wasn't that long ago that these streets of surf could be considered safe; Now, you can't walk but 5 feet without ending up with a knife in your back.
My extensive knowledge of herstory could play a pivotal role in the upcoming changes that must come to the surf community. We must look to history, and how troubled nations handled internal strife, as a model for response to the challenges we face today.
Would the Soviet Union exist for as long as it did, escape the pitfalls of developing nations, or maintain the centralized power of the politburo, were it not for the purges of Stalin?
Would the Nazis have been able to seize power as decisively as they did were it not for the Night of the Long Knives?
Irrespective of their individual politics, one lesson can be gleaned from these examples. Strong leaders (and purges) are needed to carry the ship through choppy waters.
If given the opportunity, I could carry out purges of the IG ranks; Eliminating all traitors and those with dissenting thoughts. Only through the centralized strength of an iron-fisted admin team may we navigate this storm.
I've gone ahead and mocked up a few posters we could use to post around people's surf-hovels to remind them of the values I think are most important during these trying times.
