Why were you banned?
I was banned for setting my Steam username to store.palantir.com, and then refusing to change it.
I joined the Insanity Gaming Easy Surf Server on a jolly afternoon, with my name set as surf.palantir.com. It was just a silly name, I saw their merchandise and found it funny. I was chatting it up casually for a few minutes before Interp said something along the lines of "Change your name or I'm banning you, you have 30 seconds." Caught off guard, and not sure if this was a joke or not, I replied "Surely this is a joke right", in an effort to look for clarification. Interp then proceeded to countdown in chat rather than answer my query. As a self-respecting person, I ignored his attempt to belittle me and then was promptly banned when he finished his countdown. Once that ban expired, I rejoined with the same name and an assortment of other silly link names (flocksafety.com/products, apple.com/store, etc.). He ignored it that time, so I assumed he realized that this was a silly fight to pick and he might've just been having a bad day. I left, and rejoined later that day and was banned again for the same reason.
Who banned you?
Interp
Why should we unban you?
I feel as though my actions, while petty, were inconsequential. I came into the situation with no ill intent. I was not linking to anything that I could personally benefit from, nor was it anything sketchy that could be concerning. Palantir is a 500 billion dollar company, Apple over one trillion, etc. I hardly see that as advertising, though I'll concede that I should've changed my name back. Should I have egged it on after the initial ban? No, I shouldn't have. I did so as a result of him ignoring my question for clarification and his countdown in an effort to be petty back. There was no victim to my actions, no one was hurt or affected by this. I believe this is an incredibly long ban in an effort to be petty further.
When you look at the ban list you see people being muted for doxxing, muted for r*pe threats, muted for racism, a 7 day ban for "p*do speech." I'm not sure how a month long ban is justifiable in any context for a silly name linking to a 500 billion dollar company, and was also told he gloated about the ban on the surf server later. I find the whole situation very strange. Nonetheless, I won't set my name as it again and I recognize I should not have kept it in the first place.
